A Year of Vision, A Future Transformed: Introducing Our 2025 Impact Report

Apr 22, 2026 | news |

Over the past year, something extraordinary happened—millions of moments that began in darkness ended in light.

We are proud to share the Cure Blindness Project 2025 Impact Report, a reflection of what’s possible when skill, partnership, and purpose come together to tackle one of the world’s most solvable health challenges. This year’s results are not just numbers—they represent lives restored, futures reclaimed, and communities strengthened.

In the previous 12 months, we screened and treated more than 2.25 million patients across 26 countries, reaching individuals in some of the most underserved regions of the world. Each screening represents a person who now has access to care they might otherwise never receive—often after years of preventable suffering.

Even more striking: we delivered 315,000 sight-restoring surgeries, curing the equivalent of over 1% of global cataract blindness—for the second consecutive year. This is a milestone that speaks not only to scale, but to consistency and growing momentum. Behind every surgery is a story—a parent returning to work, a grandparent seeing their family clearly again, a child re-engaging with school and possibility. It also marks our most impactful year to date.

Cataract surgery can be completed in just 10 minutes and restores sight to people who were waiting in the dark.

But restoring sight is only part of the solution. Building sustainable systems for tomorrow is just as critical.

That’s why in 2025 we also trained thousands of eye care professionals—surgeons, nurses, and community health workers—who will continue delivering care long after classes end. These individuals are the backbone of resilient health systems, ensuring that access to quality eye care becomes a lasting reality, not a temporary intervention.

To support their work, we provided more than $7 million in ophthalmic equipment and consumables, strengthening the infrastructure of clinics and hospitals where the need is greatest. From surgical microscopes to essential supplies, these investments enable local teams to deliver high-quality care safely and efficiently, expanding both reach and impact.

What makes this progress especially meaningful is how it’s achieved: through deep partnerships with local governments, health institutions, and communities. Together, we are not just treating blindness—we are building systems that prevent it.

None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our generous donors and partners. Your commitment fuels every screening, every surgery, every training, and every system strengthened. You are an essential part of each life changed and each future restored.

And yet, the need remains vast. Millions still live with avoidable blindness, waiting for access to the care that can change their lives in a matter of minutes. The work ahead is urgent—but this year’s impact shows what is possible when we act with focus and scale.

As you explore the full 2025 Impact Report, we invite you to see beyond the statistics. See the resilience of patients who refused to give up hope. See the dedication of providers working tirelessly in their communities. And see the power of a shared mission—to ensure that no one is needlessly blind.

Together, we are bringing the world into focus—one patient, one surgery, one community at a time.
