Michael Wiedman, MD

Dr. Michael Wiedman is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at Tufts Medical center and is a practicing Ophthalmologist in Massachusetts.

Wiedman trained in ophthalmology at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital. He has operated and taught ocular, plastic, and general surgery in Bhutan, Nepal and China.

With a special interest in Sports Medicine, Weidman has served as a team physician for five Mount Everest Expeditions. Applying much of his research to Altitude Illness, Weidman has published six relevant papers with Himalayan Cataract Project co-founder Dr. Geoff Tabin, among other works.

Wiedman is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Explorers Club and the Royal Geographical Society.

What’s more, Wiedman has photography exhibitions in Paris, Boston and New York to his credit and is also a published poet.
