Three Years in Darkness—Now, They See Again
For three long years, 88-year-old Yesuf Ahimed and his wife, 58-year-old Amsyan Amateban, lived in complete darkness due to cataracts. In the remote district of Babile, Ethiopia, even simple tasks became daily struggles. Falls were frequent. Their family drifted away. Hope felt distant.
Then came a radio broadcast about Cure Blindness Project. It reignited their hope. They made the journey to Bisidimo Hospital, desperate for a second chance.
The moment their bandages were removed was nothing short of miraculous. They saw each other—truly saw—for the first time in years. Tears flowed. Smiles returned. They walked unassisted, embraced their surroundings, and reclaimed the dignity that blindness had stolen.
Thanks to your support of Cure Blindness Project and compassionate doctors, Yesuf and Amsyan now live free from darkness.
Their story is a powerful reminder: sight-restoring surgery changes lives.
