The Story of Kenzie Abdula Alishu

Dec 09, 2015 | news |

Kenzie Abdula Alishu is one of six siblings living on a farm outside of Grawa, 76 kilometers from Harrar. She worked helping on her parents farm and was in school in the 6th grade when her eyesight began to fail in both eyes. She struggled to complete 7th grade. About one year ago she had to stop school and could no longer be of much help at home or in the fields. For the last 6 months she said she was totally blind and has just sat in the house all day. Her father heard of the eye screenings and brought Kenzie.

Matt operated on both eyes.

Immediately post operatively she could see to count my fingers at at least 30 feet and broke out into song. A few minutes later we checked her vision on the eye chart and she read 6/18 with each eye.
