Dec 07, 2015 | news |

The Himalayan Cataract Project invites you to take part in a celebratory evening with co-founder Dr. Geoff Tabin.

Acclaimed climber and ophthalmologist Dr. Geoff Tabin, returns to Vermont for a special Night for Sight benefit dinner at Sugarbush Resort in Warren, Vermont to celebrate 20 years of life-changing cataract surgeries.

Dr. Tabin, the fourth person to climb all seven summits, started the Himalayan Cataract Project (HCP) to eradicate needless blindness while working at the University of Vermont Medical Center in 1995.

Dr. Tabin will share his personal adventures mountaineering and how his love to conquer mountains led to his quest to conquer unnecessary blindness throughout the Himalayas and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness globally and can be cured with a 10-minute surgery with material costs of just $25. The World Health Organization estimates 18 million people remain blind in both eyes from cataracts, most of them in developing countries.
