MacArthur Foundation 100andChange Competition Update
MacArthur Foundation’s 100&Change competition moves forward as Semi-Finalists provide additional details on their proposals
On July 14th the Himalayan Cataract Project, along with the seven other 100&Change semi-finalists, completed the discovery period of MacArthur Foundation’s grant competition. The experience of being a semi-finalist - selected from among the top .5% of all applicants - has been an honor and an achievement on its own.
During this period, HCP engaged directly with the public through a Reddit “Ask Me Anything” event, July 10th. To view this conversation visit: bit.ly/HCP-ama. In addition, the MacArthur Foundation has shared updates on each organization throughout the competition in Semi-Finalist Perspectives blogs. In HCP’s most recent blog post, published on July 11, HCP Co-founder Dr. Geoff Tabin touched on how the challenge of war influenced our 100&Change proposal. In upcoming weeks, the competition will move into the selection period where the MacArthur Foundation Board will assess the materials submitted by each of the semi-finalists choosing a small number of finalists by September, 2017. Once selected, the finalists will present their proposals during a live event at which time the MacArthur Board will name a single recipient to receive $100 million for a period up to six years.
HCP would like to thank the MacArthur Foundation for this opportunity and extend its congratulations to each of the 100&Change semi-finalists for making it to this stage of the competition.
