HCP joins IZUMI Partners for planning meeting and celebration of milestone

HCP staff and Ethiopia Country Representative, Dr. Liknaw Adamu participated in the IZUMI Foundation Partners Meeting to celebrate its 20-year anniversary. Attended by staff from over 30 partner organizations and 13 countries the event highlighted the amazing work that the foundation has and continues to support. The two-day gathering was held in Boston, June 18-19 and was attended by HCP Chief of Program Administration, Pamela Clapp and Major Gifts Officer, Roger Clapp.

We were proud to have Dr. Liknaw represent HCP as a panelist and speaker for, “Working with Local and National Governments to Improve and Coordinate Care.” The IZUMI Foundation supports HCP’s integrated approach to treat cataracts and trachoma or “TT+” in Ethiopia. The TT+ program was developed to help HCP’s partners provide services to those arriving at planned cataract screenings with a variety of non-cataract eye ailments, including trachoma.

According to their website, “The IZUMI Foundation gives assistance to the world’s poorest people by supporting programs that improve health in developing countries. Created in 1998 by the lay Buddhist order Shinnyo-en, the Foundation expresses Shinnyo-en’s values of compassion, concern for others, and altruism.”

Through this opportunity, Dr. Liknaw was also able to visit with our US-based staffers at our offices in Vermont and Silver Spring, Maryland. We are grateful for the support of the Izumi Foundation and honored to celebrate this milestone and participate in their Partners Meeting.
