Healthy Vision Association (HVA)

profiles | Feb 23, 2017

For the third consecutive year, the Healthy Vision Association has chosen to sponsor the work of the Himalayan Cataract Project. According to HVA President Rich Schindette, “Part of our mission is to help others and HVA is excited to support your work to restore vision to the blind in the developing world.”

Img hva logo.jpgThe Healthy Vision Association is dedicated to helping people be healthy and see well by providing access that consumers might not have through an employer to products, services and information that promote vision and overall health. For an annual fee of $18, members receive several discounts on vision-related purchases including access to the VSP Vision Care. Available nationwide in all but three states, VSP is the leading provider of vision benefits, covering more than 64 million Americans.

The Healthy Vision Association is also committed to helping qualified not-for-profit organizations whose mission is related to helping people see well and stay healthy. A portion of members’ annual fees go to sponsoring 12 vision and health related charities that align best with the purpose of the Healthy Vision Association.

The Himalayan Cataract Project came to their attention after HVA-member Jessica Hein participated in the Accelerate Ethiopia road race in 2013 and raised over $7,000 to advance HCP’s work in sub-Saharan Africa. HCP is honored to be selected again in 2017 as an HVA beneficiary, and we thank their members and leadership for helping to eradicate needless blindness in underserved areas around the world.
