HCP on CNN iReport

news | Mar 04, 2015

HCP’s cataract campaign at Bisidimo Hospital in Harar, Ethiopia, is featured as a CNN iReport.

After her time in Harar with the Himalayan Cataract Project, volunteer photographer Amanda Conde submitted her story, Restoring Sight in Ethiopia, to CNN iReport. The story was posted on March 4, 2015.

The report highlights HCP’s ongoing work with our partners in Ethiopia and the extraordinary accomplishment of watching sight return to the blind.

"The most memorable experience I have is watching a surgeon remove one elderly man's eye patch. It took a few seconds for the man's eyes to focus, and he just happened to be looking at me when he realized he could see once again," she said. "I gave a little wave and he gave me a salute."
