A Focus on HCP Trainees from Ghana through video

HCP endeavors to build sustainable eye care systems that function effectively over the long-term with minimal external involvement. One way we do this is by working closely with a variety of partner institutions and affiliated ophthalmologists around the world, providing top-rate education and training opportunities at all levels of ophthalmology.

Two recipients of HCP supported training opportunities from Ghana are Drs. Abigail Nyarko and Akwasi Ahmed, who both work at the Eye Center at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, Ghana. Please enjoy their stories, captured by HCP volunteers, Adam Schanz and Kevin Cox of Alder Security.

Dr. Abigail Nyarko is an ophthalmology resident at KATH who has previously been sponsored by HCP to attend outreach events and take the International Council of Ophthalmology (ICO) Exams.

Dr. Akwasi Ahmed is a vitreo-retina specialist-in-training at KATH and has been sponsored by HCP since 2016.
