Dr. Sanduk Ruit Nominated for Robert Burns Award

The Robert Burns Humanitarian Award is a globally respected honor bestowed annually on a group or individual who has shown selflessness and dedication in a bid to save, enrich or improve the lives of others through the protection and promotion of human rights and work to deliver social reform.

Named in honour of Scotland’s son Robert Burns, this much sought after humanitarian award applauds the efforts of people who bring hope and inspiration, often in desperate situations, and help change lives for the better.

"The news has touched my soul," said Dr. Ruit. "The RBHA award means a lot to the organizations I am involved with globally for the alleviation of blindness and for the profile of Nepal."

Dr. Ruit was named as a finalist for the award along with Olivia Giles who founded the charity 500 Miles, which supplies prosthetic limbs to developing countries and Sompop Jantraka, who founded the Daughters Education Programme, which funds education in order to prevent children from exploitative labour, prostitution and child trafficking.
