HCP CEO Job Heintz and General Counsel Kelli Rockandel made a site visit to Bhutan's new National Eye Hospital which is currently under construction in the capital, Thimpu. They met with representatives from the Royal Government of Bhutan, programmatic partners, and the architects and contractors. The project is a collaboration between HCP, the Ministry of Health of Bhutan and the Wen Giving Foundation.

HCP has worked in Bhutan since 2000, partnering with the Royal Government to develop a comprehensive eye care system for the nation of more 750,000. HCP has supported the training of all the country's sub-specialists and dozens of paramedical staff have received specialized training; more than 23,800 sight-restoring eye surgeries have been provided through hospital-based services and outreach campaigns, and more than 970,000 people have been screened and treated, including school children who are examined for loss of vision through the national School Health Program.
